Long-Term Impact and Ongoing Legacy

A central ambition of the Cambrian Mountain Initiative was to establish its communities as exemplars of community-led sustainable development—not only by delivering short-term projects, but by embedding skills, confidence, and collaborative structures that would endure.

HRH The Prince of Wales has confirmed in writing that communities involved may continue to reference his support for the initiative in press and communications. In practice, this endorsement proved highly effective in increasing media interest and amplifying community-led stories at regional and national level.

Knowledge Sharing and Sector Leadership

Volunteers from our community continue to contribute actively to the wider sustainable development field. They have:

  • Delivered guest lectures at Welsh university courses, sharing real-world experience of community-led development and sustainable tourism
  • Presented to communities across Wales and Ireland embarking on similar initiatives
  • Advised professional consultants commissioned to support community  led sustainability projects

Over the past year, we have also engaged with a UK-wide programme focused on safeguarding cultural heritage, and we are now supporting local community consultation on the registration and protection of our shared heritage.
